ANNECY
Though we are sad to leave Chamonix, we get one more Alpine delight with a stop in the lake-front town of Annecy.
Famous for its cheese, gelato, and gorgeous scenery, Annecy is a delight to explore. Stroll its back lanes and canals, and admire its architecture and chateau. Delight in its weekly markets. (I befriended a vendor who was as excited to share his paella as I was to taste it!) Walk, bike, or drive around the lake... or get on the water! You can take a scenic cruise... or paddle-boat! All this with the Alps as your backdrop! The intermittent rain doesn't dampen our day. After a quick orientation, Daniela allows us free time to explore the town and market before boarding an hour-long cruise around one of Europe's cleanest and clearest lakes. She surprises us with chocolates to enjoy on board. Lunch on our own follows, and then it is off to the warmer weather of Provence! |
